Big Bob's City Grill: Your Destination for Flavorful American Comfort Food

We appreciate recommendations for hidden gems, and we were thrilled that someone suggested this place. The smells are incredible; we noticed them right away as soon as we pulled into their parking lot. Today, we sampled their burgers , and we are already planning our next visit. The three of us got burgers—oh boy, the burger was worth every penny. They’re huge and delicious. Their extensive menu offers numerous options, including fried pork chops, fried chicken and shrimp, hotdogs, and sandwiches, which we eagerly anticipate trying. Can't wait!!! It’s 5 ⭐ no doubt about it! ——————- Our second visit to Big Bob's for lunch has been a success. Last time, their burgers impressed us greatly. This visit, their seafood and hamburger steak exceeded expectations. We highly recommend it and look forward to trying more of their menu items next time again...

This place was great. If you're looking for a hole in the wall cafe with great food, this is it. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but as most country folks know, places like this often have the best food and Big Bob's didn't disappoint. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The burger was big and juicy with like a pound of meat. We only ate half and had the rest for dinner. Next time we'll try the pork chops since those seemed to be what a lot of people were ordering if they didn't get a burger. Not sure how we've lived in the Orange/Durham County area for 25 years and didn't know about this place, but now that we do, we'll make it a regular stop.

If the Michelin guide awarded establishments based on portions, then Big Bob’s would be the most decorated! This unassuming Hillsborough staple reigns supreme when it comes to guilty pleasure comfort food. And they are the friendliest people too :)

Probably top 3 of my 40 years of slamming cheeseburgers!!! An my wife's salad was out of this world Then got jealous as I seen there ladies beside me with a BIGGGGG box of chicken livers!!! So the 3 hour drive will happen again ASAP!!!

The pork chops were thick cut, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. You get two with a plate! The livers were what you would expect. Their mac and cheese was really good with lots of stringy cheese. The hush puppies are different from what you get at most places. They are round and have a cake like texture. The baked beans were like the ones found in the leading brand of pork and beans just a little sweeter. Their portion of collard greens is slightly bigger than most restaurants, but thankfully not salty or vinegary. The pecan pie was fantastic! The staff is friendly and welcoming. There are not many tables inside so take out is recommended if you live closeby. I definitely plan to return.

Picked up a couple fish platters for dinner and was more than satisfied with the amount of food on each plate. Even though there are many reviews praising this location about how much they enjoy the results of the meals offered here. They still exceeded my expectations. The fish was plentiful and well prepared. The vegetables were just as you expect good soul food to taste. I'll be returning to Big Bob's City Grill often get more of their excellent food.

After a bad experience with the local restaurant in Durham, I returned the food and requested a refund. I was refunded $29 and some change. And then drove a little ways and found Big Bob’s in Hillsborough . I’m so pleased to report that the little bit of time that I spent driving was well worth it. Not only was Big Bob’s seafood plate much more affordable, the portions and the quality were excellent! So in the battle of local restaurants, save yourself some time in trouble and go directly to BIG Bob’s. You will not be sorry that you did! Ps. Today I stopped by Big Bobs and purchased the bacon cheese burger w/ fries & a drink (combo plate). Oh my goodness! Can you say hot and fresh! That burger was so good. Wayyy better than any fast food chain restaurant you can think of. I could only eat half because it was so much. Once I finished that half I passed out for a good two hour nap. Oh I got a slice of Red Velvet cake as well. It’s very moist and rich in flavor (I ate it before i could take a picture). I highly recommend stopping by at 1130am when they open lol or anytime of the day to be honest. The service is great! Family owned and they have exceptional service. Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time and it’s worth every dollar that you’ll spend. You‘ll for certain go back after you eat there once! 5 out of 5 stars! I highly recommend!
